Panasonic PT-TMZ400

PT-TMZ400 — 3LCD Ultra-Short-Throw Laser Projector, WUXGA, 4,000 lm

The ultra-short-throw model in the portable range: a 0.43:1 fixed lens puts an 80-inch image on the wall from 73 cm. That's close enough to mount on a short wall arm directly above a whiteboard, so the presenter can stand at the board and write without the beam in their eyes or a shadow across the content — the classic classroom and huddle-room problem. At 4.9 kg with a laptop-sized footprint it's still portable, and it uses the same mount and bracket as the lamp-based PT-TW381R Series, so replacing an ageing lamp unit is a straight swap. 4,000 lm and 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast hold up with the lights on, and the laser light source runs around 20,000 hours with no lamp changes or mercury disposal. Note the screen range tops out at 105 inches — this is a close-quarters projector, not a large-room one.
