SOLUTIONS FOR
Retail

Digital signage, background music, and interactive AV to engage customers and drive retail performance.

Retail is a sensory experience, and ProLab equips stores, malls, and showrooms with the audio and visual technology to stand out. Our retail solutions range from striking LED video walls and window displays that draw customers in, to background music systems and ambient lighting that keep them engaged once inside.

We install and manage digital signage networks across single stores and multi-site retail chains — delivering dynamic promotional content, pricing updates, and brand messaging from a centralised content management system. Queue management displays and interactive kiosks further enhance the in-store journey and reduce perceived wait times.

With installations across flagship stores, luxury boutiques, hypermarkets, and shopping malls throughout the UAE and GCC, ProLab understands the pace, branding requirements, and operational realities of modern retail.

FAQS

Commercial displays are designed for the continuous, high-ambient-light conditions of retail environments. They offer higher peak brightness (400-700+ nits vs. 250 nits on consumer screens), a 16/7 or 24/7 duty cycle rating, remote management via dedicated protocols, lock-out features that prevent customers from changing settings, and longer warranties covering commercial use. Consumer TVs are not rated for continuous operation and will typically overheat or fail within months in a retail setting. Commercial displays also often include built-in media players, multiple input options, and narrow bezels for seamless video wall configurations.

A digital signage CMS is a cloud or server-based platform that controls what content is displayed on each screen, when, and for how long. Administrators upload media (images, videos, HTML, data feeds), create playlists or templates, assign content to individual screens or groups, and schedule playback windows. Advanced CMS platforms support dynamic content triggered by data sources (live pricing, social feeds, weather), dayparting (different content at different times of day), and screen-by-screen or zone-by-zone targeting across a multi-site network - all managed from a single web-based dashboard.

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between the centres of adjacent LED pixels on a display. A smaller pixel pitch means higher pixel density and sharper image quality at close viewing distances, while a larger pixel pitch is suitable for content viewed from further away. For retail interiors where customers view screens from 2-5 metres, a pixel pitch of 1.5mm-2.5mm typically delivers sharp, vibrant images. For large window-facing or atrium installations viewed from greater distances, 3mm-5mm pitch is more cost-effective. Matching pixel pitch to the minimum viewing distance is the key specification decision for any LED video wall.

Research consistently shows that background music influences customer behaviour in retail environments. Tempo affects pace - slower music encourages shoppers to browse longer, while faster-tempo music increases transaction speed in high-footfall settings. Music genre and style signal brand positioning and affect how customers perceive pricing and quality. Volume levels matter too: music that is too loud causes discomfort and encourages faster exits. Multi-zone audio systems allow different areas of a store (entrance, premium section, checkout) to carry tailored audio experiences. Music licensing obligations also apply in commercial retail environments.
